Bio for Blair Murphy
Blair Murphy was raised in the Holl-Murphy Funeral Home—so Anubis was there from day one.
Blair is an independent feature filmmaker who lived in Los Angeles for 15 years. In addition to producing and directing his own feature films, he worked for years as a cameraman for Prince and as personal assistant to Stan Lee at Marvel Films.
He later relocated to the edge of Appalachia after hearing about a spooky 1890s, 32-room hotel for sale that no one wanted. For the last 25 years, Murphy has been the live-in host at the very haunted and private Grand Midway Hotel. It had a long haunted history—now Murphy is growing that haunting. No one comes here for a good night's sleep. It is only open to the public for paranormal investigations and artistic ventures.
Among many unique collections, such as author Anne Rice's massive doll collection, the location also boasts two Guinness World Records: one for the World’s Largest Tarot Card and one for the World’s Largest Ouija Board.
Murphy has since purchased the town church, radio station, parking lot, and a few other buildings, creating a mini-campus for ongoing projects in film, literature, painting, and magical culture. He considers it all one big, expanding “breathing canvas.”
